I envy thee without restrictions
Free to roam and free to see
The world around me so beautiful yet far away from reach
Behind my bars I envy you
I envy you who has no cage
My bars cold and rigid hold me prisoner
Prisoner of my self
I want to fly amongst the skies and rest upon a redwood tree
Expand my wings upon command and let the winds take care of me
The rusty links that hold me down
Tight and heavy upon my wrists
My soul and spirit they hold captive
My pride and confidence they seal
We believe in liberty in this land of the free
I can’t pursue my happiness with this cage set upon me …
I ask of you two question .
Just two question I ask of thee
Do we work to live or live to work
And what does it mean to be free.
